For the sake of the One Who has blessed you with eyesight, I ask you to give me a goat so I may get to my destination.’ The man began to say: ‘Truly, I was blind and Allah Almighty granted me sight. I was poor, and Allah Almighty made me rich. You may take or leave whatever you want from my wealth. By Allah, however much you want, you may take it for the sake of Allah Almighty; I will not put you in difficulty (I will not stop you).’ Upon hearing this, the angel said: ‘May your wealth be blessed for you. Keep what you have (in your possession). You three were put to a test, and the pleasure of Allah Almighty is for you, whereas the displeasure of Allah Almighty is for both of your friends (i.e. leper and the bald person).’ [1]
Dear Islamic brothers! From this incident, it has been learnt that helping the needy and fulfilling their needs with the wealth that Allah Almighty has granted us, is a great means of earning the pleasure of Allah Almighty. It has also been learnt, that if someone does not give Sadaqah and charity, in particular, his Wajib Sadaqat such as Zakat and Fitrah etc, despite having the ability to do so, then he indeed displeases Allah Almighty and shows ingratitude for His blessings. Therefore, besides giving Wajib Sadaqat, we should also regularly give Nafl Sadaqah (charity) in abundance.
