Book Name:Sadqa Ki Baharain Ma Afzal Sadqat
sinning due to a good deed or Sadaqah of ours, or whilst thinking that we will repent in the future.
The famous commentator of the Holy Quran, Hakeem-ul-Ummat, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes the following under verse 9 of Surah Yusuf in his Nur-ul-Irfan, page 376: ‘Committing a sin with the intention of repenting is Kufr.’ In another place, whilst explaining further, he states: ‘Committing a sin with the intention of repenting, is Kufr, thinking that what harm is there in sinning? I will repent tomorrow. This is not repentance, rather, it is to make a mockery of the Shari’ah and to become fearless of Allah Almighty; both of these matters are Kufr.’[1]
It is narrated from Shaykh ibn ‘Abbad Shaazili رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه: The people of gnosis (Ma’rifah) state: It is false hope that causes a person to become arrogant, which makes him heedless of performing good deeds and gives him the audacity to commit sins. In reality, this is not hope at all, rather, it is the deception and treachery of Satan.’ Similarly, Sayyiduna Ma’roof Karkhi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, ‘Being hopeful of receiving mercy whilst disobeying the commandments of Allah Almighty, is ignorance and foolishness.’[2]
