you and leaves, (you should still) spend some from it, because it will not remain forever.’[1]
Sayyiduna Hasan Basri رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was asked: ‘What is generosity?’ He رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه replied: ‘Spending wealth abundantly for the sake of Allah Almighty.’ He was asked another question: ‘What is cautiousness?’ He replied: ‘Withholding wealth for the sake of Allah Almighty.’ It was then asked: ‘What is excessive spending?’ He replied: ‘Spending wealth out of the desire to attain authority.’[2]
Generosity and kindness are acts of faith
Sayyiduna Huzayfah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ has stated: ‘Many sinful Muslims and people who were hopeless and in a bad state in their lives, will enter Paradise only due to their generosity.’[3]
صَلُّوْا عَلَی الْحَبیب! صَلَّی اللہُ عَلٰی مُحَمَّد
Dear Islamic brothers! Some people are lazy or stingy when it comes to giving Sadaqah. When they are asked about their financial condition, they complain and complain to no end. Remember! Giving Sadaqah does not reduce wealth nor is being wealthy a condition of giving something in the path of Allah. The Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: ‘مَا نَقَصَ مَالٌ مِنْ صَدَقَۃٍ’ - Giving Sadaqah does not reduce wealth.[4]
At another place it has been stated: ‘فَاتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَۃٍ’Avoid the fire, even with a piece of a date.[5] This blessed Hadith contains comfort for
