The first one

There are different narrations about those who have had embraced Islam first and had the honour of “Sahabiyyat” [blessed companionship of Beloved Rasool صَلَّى اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم]. The Islamic scholars reconciled these narrations. Let’s read these narrations along with reconciliation.

Reconciling the above mentioned narrations

While reconciling these narrations, Shaykh-ul-Islam Sayyiduna Ibn Salah Usman Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated: ‘Amongst free men, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddeeq رَضِىَ اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ was the first one to embrace Islam; amongst children, Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ was the first one to embrace Islam; amongst women, Sayyidah Khadija-tul-Kubra رَضِىَ اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهَا was the first one to embrace Islam; amongst freed slaves, Sayyiduna Zayd Bin Haarisah رَضِىَ اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ was the first one to embrace Islam and amongst slaves, Sayyiduna Bilal Habashi رَضِىَ اللّٰہُ تَعَالٰی عَـنْهُ was the first one to embrace Islam.’ (Muqaddamah Ibn-us-Salah, pp. 300)
