Shehr e Mohabbat

Book Name:Shehr e Mohabbat

Allah Almighty chose Madinah for His beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. From this, we learn that Madinah is the most beloved place in the court of Allah Almighty.

Mention of Madinah in the Torah

Hazrat KaꜤb al-Aḥbār رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, a scholar of both the Torah and the Quran, said, “In the Torah (which was revealed to Prophet Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم), Allah addressed Madinah in the following way:

یَا طَیْبَۃُ! یَا طَابَۃُ! یَا مَسْکِیْنَۃُ! لَا تَقبُلِیْ الْکُنُوْزَ اِرْفَعِیْ اَجَاجِیْرَکَ عَلیٰ اَجَاجِیْرِ الْقُرٰی

Meaning: O Ṭayyibah! O Ṭābah! O peaceful land! Do not accept treasures! Raise your status above the status of all other towns![1]

سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! What an honour Madinah Ṭayyibah has! Just think about it — if Allah Almighty, had simply said “O Ṭayyibah!” once, that alone would have been enough. Allah Almighty is the Lord of all worlds. If He addresses someone even once like this, their greatness will shine like the full moon.

But look at Madinah — the beloved city of the beloved Prophet                صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Just as our Merciful Lord has an unmatched love for His beloved, the city of His beloved is also dearly loved. That is why, when Allah Almighty addressed the pure land of Madinah al-Munawwarah, He didn’t call it just once. Instead, He lovingly called it again and again with different names: O Ṭayyibah! O Ṭābah! O Maskīnah!

سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! When our Merciful Lord mentions Madinah Ṭayyibah with such love, why shouldn't the servants of Allah Almighty also remember Madinah with love?
