Book Name:Shehr e Mohabbat
In fact, it is mentioned in a Hadith: اَلْمَدِیْنَۃُ اَفْضَلُ مِنْ مَکَّۃَ Madinah is better than Makkah.[1]
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Dear Islamic brothers! اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه, Madinah al-Munawwarah has countless virtues. One of its special virtues is that it is the city of love. This pure city has more than 100 names. Here are three of them: (1) Mahbūbah (2) Muḥabbah (3) Muḥabbabah. The meanings of these three names are very similar: Madinah is a beloved city, a dear city, and this great city is truly the city of love.
اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه! Madinah is that sacred city which Allah Almighty loves, and His beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم loves very much. Allah’s angels also love Madinah. By Allah’s grace and His bestowal, from the noble companions of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم right up until today, the devotees of the Prophet also love Madinah. They yearn to visit it, and through its remembrance, they find peace for their souls.
Imam Ḥākim al-Naysabūrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه narrated that when the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, intended to migrate, he supplicated to Allah Almighty:
اَللّٰہُمَّ اِنَّکَ اِنْ اَخْرَجْتَنِیْ مِنْ اَحَبِّ الْبِلَادِ اِلَیَّ فَاَسْکِنِّیْ فِی اَحَبِّ الْبِلَادِ اِلَیْکَ
O Allah! If you have brought me out from the city I love the most [that is, Makkah], make me dwell in the city which is the most beloved to You.[2]
