Mawlānā Sardār Aḥmad Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه and his love for Madinah
Mawlānā Sardār Aḥmad Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was a great devotee of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and because of this deep love, he also had immense love for Madinah.
In his gatherings, the mention of the beloved’s City (Madinah) was very common. If someone who had visited Madinah came to meet him, he would ask about the condition of Madinah al-Munawwarah, ask how the local devotees of the Prophet were doing, and if someone presented any blessed item (tabarruk) from Madinah, he would happily accept it.
Once, a Ḥājjī brought some dates from Madinah Ṭayyibah. At that time, the Dars-e-Hadith (the final stage of the Islamic scholar course) was taking place. He distributed the dates of Madinah among the students present and took one date himself. Pressing it between his molars, he said: “I have placed a date from Madinah in my mouth. As long as it slowly melts and goes down, my faith will keep getting refreshed.”[1]
Buried his hair and nails in Madinah
One unique expression of love from Hazrat Muhaddis-e-Azam, Mawlānā Sardār Aḥmad Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, was that when he was blessed with the opportunity to visit Madinah, on his way back, he buried some of his hair and nails in the city.
He humbly presented this plea in the court of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم:
O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I may not have control
