Book Name:Shehr e Mohabbat
Of course, all land belongs to Allah Almighty, all seven earths and all seven skies were created by our Merciful Lord — but what great honour for this pure land (Madinah Ṭayyibah) that Allah Almighty Himself gave it the special title اَرْضُ اللہ the land of Allah.
In Juzˈ 28, Al-Hashr, verse 9, two names of Madinah are mentioned:
(1) Dār al-Hijrah (2) Dār al-Īmān
Allah Almighty says:
وَ الَّذِیْنَ تَبَوَّؤُ الدَّارَ وَ الْاِیْمَانَ مِنْ قَبْلِہِمْ
And those who made this city and faith an abode before them[1]
While explaining the meaning of the verse, Imam al-Bayḍāwī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه says:
تَبَوَّؤُوْا دَارَ الْهِجْرَةِ وَدَارَ الْاِيْمَانِ
Those who made the Abode of Migration (Dār al-Hijrah) and the Abode of Faith (Dār al-Īmān) their home. This refers to the Anṣār noble companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم, whose sincerity and truthfulness became clear. They had already made Madinah their home, they embraced faith, and they remained firm upon both faith and their residence in Madinah.
Imam al-Bayḍāwī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه further explains:
In this verse, Allah Almighty called Madinah the Abode of Faith, and the reason is that faith spread from Madinah, and in the end, faith will return to it.[2]
