صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                            صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! The topic of today’s Bayan is ‘What is modesty?’ Modesty is such an attribute that a believer’s life is incomplete without it. This an important requirement from the requirements of Iman. It is a good quality from the good qualities. Today, we will have the honour of hearing about how its importance is mentioned in the Quran and Hadith, what the modesty of our pious predecessors was like and many more beneficial things. First, keep the following point in your mind: What is modesty and what is meant by it? Remember! Modesty refers to that attribute which prevents a person from all those things which are disliked by Allah Almighty and His creation. (Ba-haya No Jawan, p. 7, summarised) Meaning, modesty is that attribute which prevents a person from that action or thing which Allah Almighty and His creation dislike.

We will now listen to an account that demonstrates how our pious predecessors would have modesty before their Lord Almighty. If only we are also granted the blessings of this virtuous quality for their sake.

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                            صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

I attained two Paradises

In the era of Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna Umar Farooq رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, there was a young man who was very pious and a devout worshipper, to such an extent that even Sayyiduna Umar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ would be amazed by his worship. After offering Isha Salah in the Masjid, that young man would go to serve his elderly father.

On the way, a beautiful woman would call him and tease him, however, the young man would not pay any attention to her and would pass by with his gaze lowered. Eventually, one day, due to the temptations of Satan and upon the invitation of that woman, the young man walked towards her with an evil intention, but when he reached her door, he remembered the following words of Allah Almighty:
