Book Name:Sharm O Haya Kesy Kehty Hain
Such naysayers should keep this in mind that modesty is such a quality that the more one has of it, the more goodness it brings to him. It is for this reason that the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, ‘modesty only brings goodness.’ (Muslim, p. 45, Hadith 37)
Sayyiduna Imran Bin Haseen رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ states: ‘The Messenger of Allahصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم possessed more modesty than even a veiled girl.’ (Mu’jam Awsat, vol. 18, p. 206, Hadith 508)
Since the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was an embodiment of modesty himself, hence, he made the entire society modest and dignified with his sacred teachings; every resident of that society started to become modest.
The lesson we learn from this is that:
*If we want to create an environment of modesty in our home, then we must first develop modesty within ourselves.
*If we want our family members to abstain from unveiling, then we must become embodiment of modesty ourselves first.
*If we want our family members to avoid the obscene visuals of movies and dramas, then we must first boycott films and dramas ourselves.
*If we want our family members to cover themselves in front of Non-Mahram men, then we must abide by this ourselves first.
*If we do not want our family members to dress immodestly, then we must first abstain from immodest clothing ourselves.
*If we do not want any obscene speech in our house, then we need to abstain from obscene speech ourselves as well.
*If we want our family members to lower their gaze, then we need to develop a habit of lowering our gaze first.
*If we want our family members to abstain from listening to music, then we must express out hate for music first.
*If we do not want our family members to wander around parks, shopping malls and markets uncovered, then we must display modesty
