Journey to Turkey and Ayyubi Monument

Blessed cave and curing water

During our journey to Şanlıurfa - the city of Ambiya in Turkey - we reached a Masjid. In the courtyard of the Masjid was a small room and a well. We were informed that there were stairs in the room which lead to the cave beneath where the Nabi of Allah, Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام spent some years in the state of illness. Then upon the command of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ, he struck the ground with his foot, which resulted in the emergence of a spring. He عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام recovered from his illness after drinking water of that spring. In order to make it easy for the visitors to drink Aab-e-shifa [curing water], a tap was fixed, through which the visitors were quenching their thirst. Participants of the Madani Qafilah also drank the curing water.

Trial of Sayyiduna Ayyub

Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ blessed Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام with every type of bounty. As well as being exceptionally handsome, having abundance of wealth, children and cattle; he عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was also the owner of various crops and gardens. When Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ tested him, his house collapsed and all of his children passed away under its debris. Hundreds of camels and thousands of goats died. Moreover, all crops and gardens also got destroyed. In short, nothing remained intact. Whenever he عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was given the news about it, he would praise and thank Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.

Moreover, he عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام would say: ‘What was mine? And what is mine? The One Whom it belonged to, has taken it away. I am content with His will in every state.’ After this, Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام fell ill. His illness increased to such an extent that everyone left him alone. However, his blessed wife, Sayyidatuna Rahmat Bin Ifra`eem رَضِیَ اللهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهَا stayed with him and served him devotedly. He عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام remained in the state of illness for several consecutive years. When his difficult period was over, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ commanded him to strike his foot on the ground. As soon as he عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام struck his foot on the ground, a spring emerged straightaway. He had a bath with that water and drank it. This is how he عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was cured. His offspring were resurrected again and all his destroyed wealth, cattle and provisions were returned to him in a larger quantity than before. (Ajaaib-ul-Quran, pp. 180-183)

Necessary explanation

Regarding the illness of Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام, ‘Allamah ‘Abdul Mustafa A’zami رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated: A widespread misconception among people is that Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was مَـعَـاذَ الـلّٰـه عَزَّوَجَلَّ suffering from vitiligo (white spots on skin). Some unauthentic books have also recorded fabricated stories about his leprosy. But remember that these tales are completely incorrect and Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام or any other Nabi عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام has never been afflicted with leprosy. In this context, there is a unanimous ruling that the Ambiya عَـلَـيْـهِمُ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّـلَام stay protected from all those diseases that are publically loathsome and detested.

Şanlıurfa – Madina-tul-Ambiya [city of Ambiya]

Madina-tul-Ambiya [city of Ambiya], Şanlıurfa, has affiliation with different blessed Ambiya عَـلَـيْـهِمُ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّـلَام. Therefore, the paternal grandson of Sayyiduna Ibraheem عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام and the chief of Bani Israel [Israelites], Sayyiduna Ya’qoob’s wedding also took place in this city, at a place called Harraan. Sayyiduna Ayyub عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام resided in this city and his blessed shrine is also situated in this city. It is also said that Sayyiduna Musa Kaleemullah عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام met Sayyiduna Shu’ayb عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام for the first time in this very city.

May Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ shower His mercy upon them and forgive us without accountability for their sake!
