they should not be able to influence him.[1]
9. Consider your murshid to be better for you than all the other saints of the time.
10. With regards to having only one murshid, the following is mentioned in al-Fatāwā al-Riḍawiyyah:
Even if he sees another person flying in the sky, he should still consider it wrong to place his hand in anyone else’s besides his own murshid. Having taken one spiritual father, he should not take another.[2]
If a murīd lives according to these principles, then the help of Allah Almighty, His beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and the friends of Allah رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـهُ will remain with him at all times—in this life, at the time of death, in the grave, on the Day of Judgment, at the Mīzān, on the Ṣirāṭ, and at the Fountain of Kawthar. اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Encouragement for Good Deed No. 28
Dear Islamic brothers! To attain the spiritual blessings of a murshid, to become pious, to stay away from sins, and to develop the mindset of repentance and seeking forgiveness, attach yourself to the religious environment of Dawat-e-Islami. Also participate in its 12 Islamic Activities.
Through its blessings, you will attain countless religious and worldly blessings اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه.
اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه Shaykh Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ is a murshid who desires the welfare of his murīds and those attached to him. For this reason, he has gifted us the 72 Pious Deeds booklet. Among them, Pious Deed no. 28 asks, “Today - مَعاذ َاللہ - in case of committing a sin, have you repented immediately? (May we have the privilege of reciting istighfār, i.e. استغفر اللہ, at least 70 times every day.)”
