Book Name:Khawājah Muin al-Din al-Chishti رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه
Miṣrīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said, “When a murīd abandons proper etiquette, he returns to the point from where he began.”[1]
2. To attain the blessings of the murshid, it is necessary to embed his love deeply in one’s heart and soul.
3. A murīd should remain towards his murshid like “a dead body in the hands of the living”.
4. To truly benefit from the murshid, one must never consider himself superior to the shaykh in knowledge or practice, even if the murīd is regarded among the greatest scholars of his time.
It is written in Malfūẓāt-i-AꜤlā Hazrat:
When seeking to attain something, even if one possesses many excellences, he should leave all his excellences at the doorstep and consider himself ignorant. If he comes with the mindset of knowing nothing, he will receive something, for nothing can be added to a vessel that is already full.[2]
5. Recognise that pleasing the murshid is a way to please Allah Almighty, and displeasing the murshid results in displeasing Allah Almighty.[3]
6. Never object to your murshid.
7. Love your murshid and your fellow murīds.
8. Neither speak against your murshid, nor listen to anyone who speaks against him.
Imam ꜤAbd al-Wahhāb al-ShaꜤrānīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه says:
A murīd should not listen to any speech except that of his murshid. He must ignore the criticism of any blamer. Even if the entire city gathers to instil hatred for his murshid in his heart (and try to separate him),
