The reward of serving one’s murshid
Sayyid MuꜤīn al-Dīnرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه narrates:
A pious person once worshipped Allah Almighty for a hundred years. He would fast during the day, stand in salah throughout the night, and advised others to worship Allah Almighty. After his passing, people saw him in their dreams, seeing him in Paradise. They asked about his state.
He replied, “My days and nights of worship did not become the reason for my entry into Paradise. Instead, Allah Almighty forgave me because of my service to my shaykh.”
He further said:
On the Day of Judgment, the Awliyā, Ṣiddīqīn, the masters of taṣawwuf will be raised from their graves with cloaks upon their shoulders.
From each cloak, thousands of threads will hang. Their murīds and devotees will cling to these threads, and they all will cross the Ṣirāṭ safely and enter Paradise.[2]
