Sayyiduna Muzaahim states: ‘When we departed from Madinah-tul-Munawwarah, I saw that the moon was by [the star] ‘Aldabaraan’, I did not find it appropriate to mention this to him but instead I said: ‘Take a look at the moon, how beautiful it looks!’ He رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه looked and the moon was by Aldabaran. He said: ‘Perhaps you want to show me that the moon is by Aldabaran. Muzaahim! We depart by the order and decision of Allah Almighty rather than that of the moon and the sun’. (Seerat Ibn-e-Abdul Hakim, p. 27)

Remember that Aldabaran is one station for the moon, at this time the moon is between Pleiades and Gemini. In Arabia, the astrologers had a delusion that this time was ill-fated. The indication of Sayyiduna Muzaahim was towards this. (Hadrat Sayyiduna Umar Bin Abdul Aziz ki 425 Hikayat, p. 90) Thus, Sayyiduna Umar Bin Abdul Aziz رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه refuted his delusion and taking of an ill-omen by teaching him a lesson of placing his reliance in Allah Almighty.

We come to know that:

*   Those who have faith in Allah Almighty do not believe in astrologers.

*   They do not accept the effect of the moon and the stars.

*   They do not accept ill-omens.

*   They do not acknowledge ill-omens as a reality.

*   They rectify those who accept the effect of the moon and the stars.

*   They have complete reliance in the Divine Being of Allah Almighty.

Thus, we should, while following the footsteps of these saints, also learn to have reliance solely in the Divine Being of Allah Almighty instead of relying on delusions, ill-omens, astrologers and the effect of the moon and the stars.

Blessings of having reliance in Allah Almighty

*   He who has reliance in Allah Almighty always remains happy.

*   He lives a life of peace and tranquillity.

*   His works continue to flourish.
