Jumu’ah Salah in the palace of Kisra, and that was the first Jumu’ah which was offered in Iraq.

Dear Islamic Brothers! You have heard how auspicious the month of Safar-ul-Muzaffar is and what esteemed events took place in this month. Just think, how can such a month in which these important events took place be ill-fated? It is so regrettable that, due to being distant from Islamic knowledge and bad company, there is a certain group of people who consider the illuminated month of Safar-ul-Muzaffar to be a month of calamities and tribulations. Even though there is no reality to it and the truth is that no day, date, week or month is ill-fated.

A'la Hadrat, Imam of the Ahl-us-Sunnah, Maulana Shah Imam Ahmad Raza Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه was asked about the last Wednesday of Safar-ul-Muzaffar, that ‘women travel out of the city on this day and give Niyaz for the graves, is this permissible or not?’

He responded to this: ‘This should not be done at all as there is much tribulation in it, and there is no basis for commemorating the last Wednesday of Safar.’ (Fatawa Razawiyyah, vol. 22, p. 240)

Hakeem-ul-Ummah, Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na’eemi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه says: ‘Some people celebrate the last Wednesday of Safar believing that the ill-fated month is departing. This is incorrect (i.e. there is no reality to it). (Mirat-ul-Manajih, vol. 6, p. 257)

The Month of Safar and the teachings of Islam

Dear Islamic brothers, after reading the previous narrations, the superstition regarding Safar-ul-Muzaffar as ill-omened may have been removed from our hearts. If such thoughts ever come to mind, ignore them and act upon the teaching of Islam. To remove the misconception that Safar-ul-Muzaffar is ill-omened, bear in mind that all months have been created by Allah Almighty no month or any of its days are ill-omened.
