1. Voluntary Prayer of the First Night

In the month of Safar, after the Isha Salah of the first night, every Muslim should offer four units (Rak’aat) of Salah. In the first unit, recite Surah Al-Kafiroon (قُلۡ یٰۤاَیُّہَا الۡکٰفِرُوۡنَ) 15 times after Surah Al-Fatihah. In the second unit, recite Surah al-Ikhlas (قُلْ ھُوَاللّٰہُ اَحَد) 11 times after Surah Al-Fatihah. In the third unit, recite Surah al-Falaq (قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَق) 15 times after Surah Al-Fatihah. In the fourth unit, recite Surah An-Naas (قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاس) 15 times. After performing salaam, recite اِیَّاکَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِیَّاکَ نَسْتَعِیْن a few times followed by Salat upon the Prophet 70 times. Allah Almighty will bestow such a person with great reward and protect him from every calamity. (Rahat-ul-Quloob Farsi, p. 61)

2. Protection from Calamities

Protection from all calamities until the following year will be granted by Allah Almighty to the individual who performs four units of voluntary Salah in the following way on the last Wednesday of Safar-ul-Muzaffar: After reciting Surah Al-Fatihah in every unit (Rak’ah), recite Surah Al-Kawsar (اِنَّاۤ  اَعۡطَیۡنٰکَ  الۡکَوۡثَر) 17 times, Surah Al-Ikhlas (قُلْ ھُوَاللّٰہُ اَحَد) five times, Surah al-Falaq (قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَق) five times and Surah An-Naas (قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاس) five times. After performing salaam, this Du’a should be recited:

‘یَاشَدِ یْدَ الْقُویٰ یَاشَدِ یْدَ الْمِحَالِ یَاعَزِ  یْزُ ذَ لَّلْتَ بِعِزَّ تِکَ جَمِیْعَ خَلْقِکَ اَ کْفِنِیْ مِنْ جَمِیْعِ خَلْقِکَ یَا مُحْسِنُ یُامُجْمِلُ یَامُفَضِّلُ یَامُنْعِمُ یَامُکَرِّمُ یَا مَنْ لَّا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ بِرَحْمَتِکَ یَا اَرْحَمَ الرّٰ حِمِیْن’^[1]
