Blessings of Safar ul Muzaffar

Book Name:Blessings of Safar ul Muzaffar

A’la Hadrat رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه answered: There is no basis for this in the pure Shari’ah, the delusion of the people is prevalent here. There is a ruling in Shari’ah: ‘اِذَاتَطَیَّرْتُمْ فَامْضُوْا meaning, when an ill-omen comes to mind, do not act upon it.’ Muslims should read the following in this scenario,

اَللّٰہُمَّ لَاطَیْرَ اِلَّا طَیْرُکَ،وَلَاخَیْرَ اِلَّا خَیْرُکَ، وَلَا اِلٰہَ غَیْرُکَ (O Allah Almighty! There is no misfortune, but it is from You and there is no good, but it is from You and there is none worthy of worship besides You) and go about their work by having reliance of Allah Almighty. Do not stop or return by any means. (Fatawa Razawiyyah, vol. 29, p. 641, summarised)

اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه! Following the lives of our pious predecessors رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـه in these matters is commendable. These noble individuals would place their complete faith in the Divine Being of Allah Almighty, instead of having faith in astrology charts or perceiving any person, place, time or thing as an ill-omen. Let us listen to two faith enlightening parables in this regard:

1. Did not stop the travel

When Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ intended to travel for battle against the Khawarij, an astrologer became a hindrance saying: ‘O Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen! Do not leave.’ Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ asked the reason for this to which he replied: ‘The moon at this time is on Scorpio (the eighth constellation). If you leave at this time, you will be defeated.’

After hearing this Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ responded: ‘The Final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and the noble (Abu Bakr) Siddeeq and Umar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُما did not have belief in astrologers. After placing my reliance in Allah Almighty, I surely will travel to prove your statement is a lie.’

Then he departed for that journey. After the apparent life of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Allah Almighty bestowed Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ with the most blessings in that journey, to the extent that all the enemies were defeated and he returned happy and victorious. (Ghaza-ul-Labab Sharah Manzomat-ul-Aadaab, vol. 1, p. 191)

2. Refutation of ill-omens

The servant of Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Sayyiduna Umar Bin Abdul Aziz رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه,
