In What State Did You Begin Your Morning?

Book Name:In What State Did You Begin Your Morning?

Beautiful Morning States

Dear Islamic brothers! We should reflect upon our morning states and must certainly strive to reform them. How will this happen? Which beautiful states should we adopt? Let us listen to the advice of the pious people:

In what state did you sleep...?

A pious person was asked: “With what intention should a person wake up from bed in the morning?” He replied: “First think about the state in which you slept, then ask about waking up.” He then said: “Ask about waking up later; first reflect upon the states of sleeping!” Then, he described the good state of sleeping, stating: “A person should be mindful of four matters before sleeping at night:

(1): No one’s right should be outstanding on his part. If anyone’s right is due upon him, he should fulfil it (or have it forgiven) because sometimes death arrives during sleep. If one dies while having someone’s right due upon them, they will have no excuse before Allah Almighty (meaning, it will be difficult to fulfil the right on the Day of Judgement). (2): None of the obligatory acts (Fara`id) ordained by Allah Almighty should be due upon him (for example, if Isha prayer is pending, he should perform it before sleeping; similarly, he should reflect upon other obligatory acts). (3): He should sleep after repenting for all his sins (for even if death occurs during sleep, his end is upon repentance). (4): He should sleep after writing a will.”[1]

Dear Islamic brothers! This is a matter of concern. We have been taught that if you wish to correct your morning states and desire to attain a good morning, then correct your states before sleeping at night! This is because a person wakes up in the state in which he sleeps. Alas! Our routine at the time of sleeping is also very strange. How many are there who sleep after committing sins? How many are there who sleep without performing the Isha prayer? How many are there who fall asleep while watching channels full of sins? There are also such unwise individuals who sleep while listening to music with earphones in their ears and songs playing on their mobile phones. How many are there who sleep after viewing immoral websites? The nights of many are sacrificed
