Contentment, such that he becomes happy with what and how much has been given to him. (2) The sweetness of obedience and submissiveness.”[1]

These two blessings—(1) Contentment and (2) the sweetness of goodness—are granted to the one who, upon waking up in the morning, is at peace regarding the matter of sustenance and is fearful regarding the matter of good deeds, thinking: Alas! May today not pass in acts of disobedience...!! If only we could be blessed with these two great states...!!

Four Intentions for the Morning

Dear Islamic brothers! Making an intention grants a person the motivation for action; therefore, we should make good intentions every morning so that the mindset to perform pious deeds remains throughout the day. Some wise individuals state: “A person should make these intentions every morning: (1) I will fulfil the obligatory acts (Fara`id) of Allah Almighty. (2) I will abstain from the things He has forbidden. (3) I will act with justice in dealings with people. (4) I will reconcile with enemies. When a person reaches the morning with these intentions, it is hoped that he will be among the successful and pious people.”[2]

He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم asked him, "In what state did you find yourself this morning?" In response, he submitted (only this), "In a good state." The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم asked him the same question again; he again submitted the same
