A healthy heart becomes worried when a limb is in pain. Unfortunately, our hearts have become sick due to sins, so how can our hearts protect us? Only Allah Almighty knows what will become of us.
The noble Quran states:
یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اجۡتَنِبُوۡا کَثِیۡرًا مِّنَ الظَّنِّ ۫ اِنَّ بَعۡضَ الظَّنِّ اِثۡمٌ
O you who believe! Refrain from excessive speculation - for some speculation is sinful.[1]
Imam Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه explains the reasons why some speculation is sinful. He writes:
Someone’s actions may look outwardly evil but the reality is something else. It is possible that he is performing the action forgetfully or the observer himself is in error.[2]
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
One day, a sinner from Banī Isrāʾīl passed by a devout worshipper who would be shaded by the clouds. A thought crossed the sinner’s heart, “I am the greatest sinner from the Banī Isrāʾīl and he is the most pious. If I adopt his company, there is hope that Allah Almighty will be merciful to me too.” After thinking this, he sat next to the worshipper, but the worshipper was not pleased by this.
He said to himself, “Look at this sinner thinking he can sit next to a pious man like me!” Then he addressed the sinner with contempt and told him to leave. After that, Allah Almighty revealed to the Prophet عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام of
