A group of thieves once set out to steal, and took shelter in a traveller’s lodge, whilst claiming they were travelling in the way of Allah Almighty. The owner of the traveller’s lodge was a pious man who served them with the intention of pleasing Allah Almighty. The thieves left in the morning to steal and returned in the evening. To their surprise, they saw the owner’s son, who was unable to walk the day before, walking without any difficulty.
The thieves asked the owner in amazement, “Is this the disabled boy we saw yesterday?”
“This is the same boy,” the owner replied with great respect.
Then they asked, “How was he cured.”
The father said, “It is through the blessings of people like you who travel in the way of Allah Almighty. We fed our son your leftover food and rubbed your leftover water on his body with the intention of him being healed, and it was through the blessings of this that our son was cured.”
Upon hearing this, the thieves began to cry, “This is only the result of your positive assumption about us, as we are very sinful people. We are not travelling in the way of Allah Almighty; we are robbers. Witnessing
