reason why my face is pale.” After that, the worshipper returned to his place of worship.

Sayyidunā Khuld bin Ayyub رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه comments further: “The cobbler was superior to the worshipper because he would think of himself as lowly in comparison to others. He would also consider everyone to be worthy of Paradise except himself.”[1]

Dear Islamic brothers! The cobbler had a greater rank than the man who worshipped Allah Almighty on the mountain for 60 years. The pious cobbler earned halal wealth, refrained from earning wealth from impermissible sources, and he would donate half his wealth to charity. He also fasted in abundance, but the main reason for his superiority over the worshipper was because he thought others were better than him. He considered everyone to be worthy of Paradise except himself, and the fear of Hell caused his face to turn pale.

Dear Islamic brothers! Remember! Thinking positively about others is an excellent form of worship. The heart can be a means of gaining good deeds, or it can be a cause of increase in sins. On the Day of Judgement, when the limbs will testify for or against us, the heart will speak too. If the heart thinks well of people, it will be a means of gaining good deeds, but if the heart has evil assumptions about other Muslims, it can become a means of punishment. The Quran states:

اِنَّ السَّمۡعَ وَ الۡبَصَرَ وَ الۡفُؤَادَ  کُلُّ  اُولٰٓئِکَ کَانَ  عَنۡہُ  مَسۡـُٔوۡلًا (۳۶)

Indeed, the ear, the eye, and the heart; all of these are going to be questioned.[2]

Imām Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states:
