Book Name:Ala Hazrat Aik Peer e Kamil
Great benefit in having a murshid
Dear Islamic brothers, it is also evident from this that taking a spiritual guide is very beneficial. One great advantage is that a true shaykh will never allow his murid to go astray. The young man had given an oath of allegiance to Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه, so he was saved from falling into heresy and the hands of deviants.
This is an age of tribulations. We should become the murid of a spiritual guide who fulfils the required conditions and adheres to Islamic law. اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه Through the blessings of this, we will be saved from heresy and our faith will be protected.
Oath of allegiance is a beautiful Sunnah
Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه explained, “Oath of allegiance is without a doubt a beautiful Sunnah”.[1]
Our Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم took oath of allegiance many times. The Companions عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ gave an oath of allegiance whilst placing their hands on the hands of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم . Mentioning one of these oaths of allegiance, Allah states in the Quran:
لَقَدۡ رَضِیَ اللّٰہُ عَنِ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ اِذۡ یُبَایِعُوۡنَکَ تَحۡتَ الشَّجَرَۃِ
Translation from Kanz al-Īmān: “Indeed, Allah became content with the believers when they pledged allegiance to you beneath that tree (at Hudaybiyyah).”[2]
