‘Umar رَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ once departed for Hajj. Whilst performing tawaf of the Holy Ka’bah, he looked towards al-Ḥajar al-Aswad (the black stone) and said: ‘I know that you are merely a stone which can neither benefit nor harm. If I had not witnessed the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم kissing you, I would not have done so either.’ He then proceeded to kiss it. Upon hearing this, the lion of Allah, Maula ‘Ali رَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ exclaimed, ‘O Amīr al-Mu’minīn! This stone does indeed give benefit and also harm.’ Sayyiduna ‘Umar asked, ‘How?’ to which Maula Ali replied, ‘Verily, I bear witness that I heard the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم say that on the Day of Judgement, al-Ḥajar al-Aswad will be brought in a such a state that it will have a tongue, through which it will testify that so-and-so person kissed it whilst in the state of īmān. O Amīr al-Muminīn, this is how it benefits and harms!’ Hearing this, Amīr al-Mu’minīn, Sayyiduna ‘Umar رَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ declared, ‘O Abul Ḥasan! I seek refuge in Allah from being amongst a nation wherein you are absent.’”

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                            صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

True devotion for the Ahl al-Bayt

سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه, What can be said about the excellence of Ameer al-Mumineen, Sayyiduna ‘Umar al-Farooq رَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ! He was the second caliph, the Amīr of all Muslims, the conqueror of Iran and Rome, the awe of whose name would petrify all the disbelievers, the one from whose shadow the accursed Satan runs, the one who gained the title of ‘Muḥaddath’ from the court of the beloved Prophet i.e. one whose speech was divinely inspired, the one who attained the title of ‘al-Farūq’ from the Prophetic court, the one in whose support many verses of the Noble Quran were revealed, and the first person to be referred to as ‘Amīr al-Mu’minīn’ by the Muslims.

This great Companion had such immense love and respect in his heart for the progeny of his beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم that despite his own decisions being endorsed by the Holy Quran, he appointed Maula Ali رَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ as chief judge and personal advisor in his court. Ponder for a moment! Observe this beautiful connection between such beautiful individuals! Sayyiduna Abū Bakr رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ is the caliph of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Sayyiduna Abū Bakrرَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ   himself appointed Sayyiduna ‘Umar رَضِىَ اللهُ  عَـنْهُ as judge (qāḍi), and in turn,
