۔3Sayyiduna Aswad Bin Yazeed رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete the Quran every other day in Ramadan, and would only rest between Maghrib and Isha, and outside of Ramadan, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete the Quran in 6 nights. ۔4Sayyiduna Qatadah Bin Di’aamah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete the Quran in 7 nights (during normal days), but in Ramadan, heرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete it every 3 nights, and would complete it every night during the last ten days. ۔5Sayyiduna Sa’d Bin Ibrahim Zuhri رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would not do Iftar on the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th until he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه had completed the Quran. Between Maghrib and Isha, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would ponder over matters of the Hereafter, and he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would usually invite poor people for Iftar, so that they could also eat with him. Dear Islamic brothers! We have heard about the practise of the pious predecessors in relation to the recitation of the Quran during Ramadan, let us now hear about these blessed personalities and how they would worship in Ramadan.
The pious predecessors and their passion for worship
A pious predecessor, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states, ‘When we would return in the nights of Ramadan after worshipping, we would tell the servants to bring the food quickly, out of fear that Fajr would begin.’ (Tahara-tul-Quloob wal Khudu’ li Allaam-ul-Ghuyoob, p. 157)
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Ibrahim Bin Adham رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه that: During the month of Ramadan, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would cut the crops
