The month of Ramadan and the practise of the pious predecessors

Dear Islamic brothers! We have had the honour of hearing about the acts of worship that are performed in Ramadan and about their virtues and blessings. After hearing them, we will have certainly gained a passion for performing acts of worship and good deeds in Ramadan. In order to further strengthen these righteous intentions, let us listen to the practise of the pious predecessors and how these noble personalities would spend Ramadan in performing good deeds.

The pious predecessors and their passion for reciting the Quran

۔1Our Imam-e-A’zam, Abu Hanifah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete the recitation of the Quran 62 times during Ramadan and the day of Eid-ul-Fitr (once in the morning, once at night, once in the month during Taraweeh, and once on the day of Eid). (Al-Khayraat-ul-Hisaan, p. 50)

۔2Imam Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete the recitation of the Quran 60 times in Ramadan, and would complete it solely in Salah. (Hilya-tul-Awliya, Imam Shaafi’i, vol. 9, p. 142, Raqm 13426)
