during the day and pray Nafl Salah at night; for 30 days, he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه neither slept during the night nor the day. (Hilya-tul-Awliya, Ibrahim Bin Adham, vol. 7, p. 435, Raqm 11117)
Dear Islamic brothers! Did you hear of how our pious predecessors would become engaged in worship when Ramadan arrived, and they would recite the Holy Quran in abundance; some of them would complete the Quran every day, and others would complete it in two or three days; they would spend the day working and labouring whilst fasting and they would offer Nawafil at night, and they would not rest for the entire month. In fact, our Ghaus-e-A’zam, Shaykh Abdul Qaadir Jeelani رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would perform so much worship that not only did he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه remain engrossed in worship, Nawafil and recitation of the Quran in the month of Ramadan, but would do so for the entire year; he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would complete the recitation of the Quran every night for 15 years, (Bahjat-ul-Asraar, p. 118, summarised) and he رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه would offer one thousand Rak’at of Nafl Salah every day. (Ghaus-e-A’zam kay Halaat, p. 32)
If only we are successful in taking a lesson from these accounts of the pious predecessors; may we also receive a portion of their passion for performing worship and reciting the Quran, and may we become from among those who worship Allah Almighty and recite the Quran with the correct rules and Makharij (points of articulation).
