Can a Woman Perform Hajj and Umrah Without a Maḥram?
Question: What do the scholars of Islam and the Muftis of the noble Shariah guide regarding the matter of whether a woman can go for Hajj or Umrah without a maḥram? Given that women often travel without a maḥram to other countries or different cities within their own country, why is it restricted for Hajj or Umrah? If a woman possesses a limited amount of money which is only sufficient for her own Hajj or Umrah, can she travel with a group or a family?
When a woman needs to undertake a SharꜤī journey for Hajj, Umrah, or any other purpose (a SharꜤī journey refers to a distance of three days' travel or more, which is approximately 92 kilometres; in fact, due to the fear of tribulation, scholars forbid travelling even a single day’s distance), it is a condition that she is accompanied by her husband or a maḥram. Travelling without one is impermissible and Haram.
Therefore, this ruling is not exclusive to Hajj and Umrah; rather, it applies to any SharꜤī journey to any location. Regardless of how old the woman may be, she cannot travel without a maḥram. She is also not permitted to travel with a group or another family; if she does so, she will be a sinner, and a sin will be recorded for every step she takes.

Is a Woman’s Ablution Nullified if her Head is Uncovered?
Question: What do the scholars of Islam and the Muftis of the noble Shariah guide regarding this matter: if a woman who is in a state of wuḍūˈ removes her headscarf, does her wuḍūˈ break?
Questioner: Sulayman Riaz, Gujrat Pakistan
The uncovering of the head is not among the factors that nullify wuḍūˈ (nawāqiḍ al-wuḍūˈ). Therefore, removing the headscarf does not invalidate wuḍūˈ. However, it must be kept in mind that it is not permissible to reveal the hair of the head in front of a non-maḥram.

Covering the Raised Bone of the Foot While in the State of Iḥrām
Question: What do the scholars of Islam and the Muftis of the noble Shariah guide regarding whether there is any SharꜤī objection if the raised bone of a woman’s foot is covered while she is in the state of Iḥrām?
There is no objection to the bone of a woman’s foot being covered. A woman’s Iḥrām relates solely to the face, meaning she must not cover her face.
