Some Unique Habits of Imam Amad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه

Dear Islamic brothers! Reading about the character and habits of the saints and righteous elders certainly creates a passion for doing good deeds. Therefore, some noble habits of the Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah, Imam Amad Razā Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه are presented below:

1. Imam Amad Razā Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه would accept invitations from poor people. If the food there was not according to his taste, he would not mention it to the host. Instead, he would eat it happily.[1]

2. He always helped the poor and never sent them away empty-handed. Even in his final moments, he advised his relatives and family to take special care of the poor. He told them to serve the poor delicious and high-quality food from his home and never to scold a poor person.[2]

3. He would forbid people from writing "بِـسۡمِ  الـلّٰـہِ  الـرَّحۡـمٰنِ  الـرَّحِـیۡمِؕ," Quranic verses, the name of "اللہ" the name of the holy Prophet "محمد" or alawāt on postcards or open letters to prevent any disrespect. He would write the numerical value of " بِـسۡمِ  الـلّٰـہِ" starting from the right side.

4. In a gathering of Mawlid, he would sit respectfully on his knees from the beginning until the end. He would only stand up to recite alāt and salām. Similarly, while delivering a speech, he would sit on his knees on the pulpit for four to five hours.[3]

5. His way of sleeping was also very unique. He did not sleep like common people. While sleeping, he would place his thumb over his index finger so that his fingers formed the word "Allah." He never stretched his legs out while sleeping. Instead, he would lie on his right side, join both hands and place them under his head, and tuck his legs in. In this way, his body would form the word "Muhammad."[4]

If only we, the devotees of Imam Amad Razā Khan رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, are also blessed with the ability to follow these beautiful habits of his.
