Who Were the Sons and Daughters of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

The Blessed Sons and Blessed Daughters of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

Dear Islamic brothers! Allah Almighty blessed the merciful Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم with three sons and four daughters. A brief introduction to them is as follows:

Sayyidunā Qāsim رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ:

He was born to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Khadījah رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا, before the declaration of Prophethood. The teknonym of the holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, ‘Abū al-Qāsim’, is based on his name. According to the majority of scholars, he had learned to walk by the time he passed away.[1]

Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ:

He was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah before the declaration of Prophethood and passed away during his childhood. ‘Ṭayyib’ and ‘Ṭāhir’ are his titles.[2]

Sayyidunā Ibrāhīm رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ:

He was the youngest son. He was born in Dhū al-Ḥijjah 8 AH at a place called ‘ꜤĀliyah’ near Madinah al-Munawwarah. His mother was Sayyidah Māriyah al-Qibṭiyyah رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا. He passed away at the age of 17 or 18 months on the 10^th of RabīꜤ al-Awwal 10 AH.[3]

Sayyidah Zaynab رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا:

She was the eldest daughter. She was born in Makkah al-Mukarramah ten years before the declaration of Prophethood. She passed away in the 8^th year after the Hijrah.[4]

Sayyidah Ruqayyah رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا:

She was born seven years before the declaration of Prophethood. She was the wife of Sayyidunā ꜤUthmān b. ꜤAffān رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ. She passed away at the age of twenty on the 19^th of Ramadan 2 AH, three days after the victory at Badr.[5]

Sayyidah Umm Kulthūm رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا:

After the passing of Sayyidah Ruqayyah رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا, she was married to Sayyidunā ꜤUthmān b. ꜤAffān رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُ in RabīꜤ al-Awwal 3 AH. She passed away in ShaꜤbān 9 AH.[6]

Sayyidah Fāṭimah رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهَا:

She was the youngest, most beloved, and dearly cherished daughter of the greatest Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. She was married to Sayyidunā ꜤAlī al-Murtaḍā رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ in 2 AH. The noble Sādāt (descendants of the holy Prophet) throughout the world today are the descendants of her sons, Sayyidunā Imam Ḥasan and Sayyidunā Imam Ḥusayn رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَا. She left this temporary world on the 3^rd of Ramadan 11 AH, six months after the holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم passed away.[7]

May Allah Almighty be pleased with them and grant us forgiveness without accountability for their sake.

اٰمِیْنْ بِجَاہِ خاتَمِ النَّبِیّٖن صلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہ ِوَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّم
