Children! Stay Away From These Habits
Distorting Names:
Dear children! Changing someone’s name or calling them by a name they dislike—such as "Lambu" (Tall), "Kalu" (Dark), or "Motu" (Fat)—is a sin. Allah Almighty has forbidden us from doing this. It is mentioned in the holy Quran:
وَ لَا تَنَابَزُوْا بِالْاَلْقَابِؕ-
Translation: “nor offend one another with nicknames.”[1].

Therefore, avoid distorting the names of others! If you see someone else doing it, stop them gently.
Mimicking Others:
Some children watch how someone walks, talks, or moves their hands, and then copy them to make fun of them. This hurts the other person’s feelings and causes them pain. Our beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: “Whoever hurts a Muslim has indeed hurt me, and whoever hurts me has indeed displeased Allah.”[2] Therefore, refrain from mimicking others.
Asking Others for Food:
Some children have a bad habit of asking others for their food. This is not a good habit. It ruins their reputation, and because of this bad habit, other children do not like to sit or eat with them. Such children should bring food from their own homes and avoid asking others for it.
Reflect!
Do you have any of these bad habits?
