The Blessed Manners of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم

Every single mannerism of the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is most wonderful. Here are 8 beautiful manners of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم:

Saying Labbaik: Whenever someone called the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, he would answer them by saying "Labbaik".[1]

Listening attentively: If a person whispered into the ear of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, he would not move his blessed head away until the person had finished speaking.[2]

Not stretching his legs: When the Companions رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُم were present in a gathering, the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would never sit with his legs stretched out.[3]

Spreading the cloak: If someone came to meet him, the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would sometimes spread his cloak for them or even offer his seat.[4]

Calling people by their kunyah: He used to call the companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم by their kunyah (teknonym) and their preferred names.[5]

Dignified speech: The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم spoke with great dignity and paused between words so clearly that anyone who wanted to count the words in his sentences could do so.[6]

Dignified way of walking: The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم used to walk quickly and lean forward slightly, as if he were descending from a height.[7] Sayyidunā Abū Hurairah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ said: “The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم walked so fast that it seemed as if the earth was being folded under his feet. We would get breathless trying to keep up with him, but the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم continued to walk swiftly without any difficulty.”[8]

Gift of fragrance: The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would never refuse a gift of fragrance. Instead, he would say: "Do not refuse a gift of fragrance, because it has come from Paradise."[9]

May Allah Almighty give us the ability to adopt the blessed manners of the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

Ameen by the honor of The Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.
