Surah Taha Ayat 86 Translation Tafseer

Para 16 - قَالَ اَلَمْ

سورة طه

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

20.86

فَرَجَعَ مُوْسٰۤى اِلٰى قَوْمِهٖ غَضْبَانَ اَسِفًا ﳛ قَالَ یٰقَوْمِ اَلَمْ یَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا۬ؕ-اَفَطَالَ عَلَیْكُمُ الْعَهْدُ اَمْ اَرَدْتُّمْ اَنْ یَّحِلَّ عَلَیْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ فَاَخْلَفْتُمْ مَّوْعِدِیْ(86)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

So Mūsā returned to his nation enraged and sad[1] and said, “O my nation! Did your Lord not make a good promise to you? Did the covenant become too long for you, or you desired that the wrath of your Lord descends upon you? So you have broken my promise.”[2]

Commentary

This anger of Prophet Mūsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was not for personal reasons, rather, it was for the sake of Allah Almighty, and this is not prohibited, it is permissible. The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “˹The firmest rope of faith is to˺ love and hate for the sake of Allah.” (Shu’ab al-Imān: 9511)

Based on Prophet Mūsā’s conduct, if a child, employee, or someone else for whom we have responsibility disobeys Allah Almighty and His Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, we must advise them. Unfortunately, the state of people today is such that if their employee opposes any order of theirs, they castigate him, but if he disobeys Allah Almighty in their presence, they overlook it. It is stated in a Hadith that the Beloved Prophet
صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم never took revenge for a personal matter. Yet, if anyone committed anything that was declared unlawful by Allah Almighty, he would take them to account for it. (Ṣaḥiḥ Al-Bukhārī: 3560)
