Book Name:How to love Allah even further
Regarding this verse which magnificently discusses love for Allah Almighty, we find the following exegesis in Tafsīr Ṣirāṭ al-Jinān:
The accepted slaves of Allah love Him more than anything else. Living and dying in the love of Allah is the purpose of their lives. They give preference to their Lord’s pleasure over their own happiness. Abandoning their soft and comfortable beds, they prostrate to Him instead.
They shed tears remembering Him. They yearn to please Him. They stand in worship during the long nights of winter and fast during the lengthy days of summer. They love for the sake of Allah and show enmity for the sake of Allah. They give and withhold for His sake. They express gratitude upon blessings and show patience in hardship.
They rely upon Allah in every state. They entrust all their affairs to Him. They remain ever prepared to act upon divine commands. They keep their hearts empty of love for anything and anyone besides Him.
They love the beloveds of Allah and hate His enemies. They love those whom Allah loves. They love His most beloved Messenger and Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم with heart and soul. They recite the Words of Allah. They keep the special slaves of Allah near to their hearts. They love them, spend time with them to increase in love for their Lord, and honour them out of honour for Allah.
All these matters, and hundreds more, are both proofs and requirements showing that one loves Allah.[1]
