Then, a short while later, Abū Bakr رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ arrived. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stood, kissed his forehead, and embraced him.^[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                             صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

A Paradisical river in the Cave

Dear Islamic brothers! The first Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ holds the special distinction of accompanying the Final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in the Cave of Thawr.

During the migration from Mecca to Medina, the Beloved Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  stayed in this cave for three days. In that time, there was only one blessed person with him for the entire duration, and that was Sayyidunā Abū Bakr رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ.

Scholars of Islam say, “This opportunity for displaying devotion and servitude  that Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīqرَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ  attained was a truly unique blessing. No companion of any other Prophet ever attained something similar.”^[2]

Dear Islamic brothers! During their stay in the Cave of Thawr, several extraordinary events took place. Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. ꜤAbbās رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُما narrates how during that time, Sayyidunā Abū Bakr رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ became extremely thirsty. He humbly mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, who proclaimed, “Go further into the cave. Go, and drink.”

When Sayyidunā Abū Bakrرَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ  went deeper into the cave, he came across water sweeter than honey, whiter than milk, and more fragrant than musk. He drank some of this and returned.

The beloved Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  said, “O Abū Bakr! Shall I tell you a joyful matter?”

Sayyidunā Abū Bakrرَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ  replied, “May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! Of course, please do!”
