Book Name:Virtues and Attributes of Al Siddīq Al Akbar رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ
The first Caliph of Islam, Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ said, “Ṣalāt upon the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم erases sins faster than water extinguishes fire, whilst salam upon the Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is superior to freeing slaves.”[1]
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: اَفْضَلُ الْعَمَلِ اَلنِّيَّۃُ الصَّادِقَۃُ – The best of deeds is a sincere intention.[2]
Dear Islamic brothers! Make it a habit to form good intentions before every action, as good intentions can lead one to Paradise. Before listening to the speech, we can make the following good intentions:
1.I will listen to the entire speech to gain Islamic knowledge.
2.I will sit in respectful fashion.
3.I will not be lazy or inattentive during the speech.
4.I will listen with the intention of self-improvement.
5.I will try to convey what I learn to others.
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
A pious person narrates:
I once had a neighbour who was very sinful. This bothered and exasperated me, to the extent I eventually moved houses so I could be away from him.
