The Messenger of Allah  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  said: مَنْ اَحَبَّ سُنَّتِیْ فَقَدْ اَحَبَّنِیْ وَمَنْ اَحَبَّنِیْ كَانَ مَعِیَ فِی الْجَنَّةِ – “Whoever loves my Sunnah loves me, and whoever loves me shall be with me in Paradise.”[1]

Sunan and manners of adorning oneself

Dear Islamic brothers! Here are some sunan and manners related to adorning oneself.

1.It is haram for a woman to braid or weave human hair into her own hair. A hadith explains how those who do this are cursed, as are those who attach this to another woman’s hair.[2]

2.Even if a braid is made from the woman’s own hair, it is still impermissible to reattach it. [3]

3.It is permissible for Islamic sisters to attach braids made of wool or black thread to their hair. [4]

4.It is permissible for women to pierce their ears and nose.[5]

5.Some people pierce the ears of boys and make them wear earrings or something similar; this is impermissible. Both the piercing and the wearing of jewellery are impermissible for males.[6]

6.It is permissible for women to apply henna on their hands and feet. Applying henna to the hands and feet of boys is impermissible, though there is no harm in applying it to girls.[7]
