The Shariah is the Standard of Good and Evil
Dear Islamic Brothers! From this blessed verse and its context of revelation, it is clear that the standard of good and evil, success and failure, superiority and inferiority, is not based on appearance, lineage, or wealth, but on piety. Always remember this principle: good and evil are not determined by logic, but by the Shariah. That is, we cannot determine what is good or bad with our intellect. The standard of good and evil is Shariah. Whatever Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم declare good, that is good; and whatever Allah and His Messenger declare bad, that is certainly bad.
Nowadays, our standards of good and evil have changed. How much does a person earn? What kind of work do they do? What is their lineage like? How educated are they? How well do they speak English? What kind of car do they own? etc. These are the things by which a person is judged as good or bad. Whereas the standard of good and evil is not these things, but rather a person's character. Allah Almighty and His Beloved Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم will decide whether I am good or bad. For this, I must look at myself in the mirror of the Shariah. In the light of the Quran and Hadith, I must examine my character, my speech, my actions, and my morals.
Who among us is good? Who is better? The one who is best in the universe, the highest in rank, the most excellent and supreme, meaning our Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, who is also beloved to Allah Almighty.
