Book Name:Musalman Ki Izzat Kijiye

Mufti Aḥmad Yār Khan NaꜤīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه comments on this hadith by explaining, “A Muslim should not take another Muslim’s wealth without permission, nor humiliate him, nor kill him unjustly. These are severely haram.”[1]

The renowned mufti also writes:

One must not even think badly of another Muslim. Do not address him with words of ridicule, do not call upon him with demeaning titles, nor subject him to mockery. These faults are widespread among us today. We look down on our Muslim brothers due to their occupations, lineage, or financial status. Whether Punjabi, Bengali, or Sindhi, Islam has removed all these differences between us. The honeybee takes nectar from many different flowers, yet what it produces is still called honey. Similarly, when all Muslims believe in the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, they have become one, be they from Ḥabsha or Rome.[2]

Humiliating a believer is haram

During his farewell ḥajj, the final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم delivered a sermon in Minā. During this, he asked his Companions, اَیُّ شَہْرٍ ہٰذَا؟ - “Which month is this?”

The Companions عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ knew it was the month of Dhu al-Ḥijjah, but look at their amazing etiquette and manners towards the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. They thought he wished to change the name of the month entirely, so instead of mentioning it, they humbly replied by submitting, اللہُ وَرَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم – “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He further asked,
