2.   The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated, “Backbiting is worse than fornication.” People asked, “O Messenger of Allah! What makes this so?”

He responded, “A person fornicates yet repents, and Allah accepts his repentance. The backbiter will not be forgiven until the person he backbites forgives him.”[2]

3.   Allah’s Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم also mentioned:

When I undertook the MiꜤrāj, I saw people who had nails of brass, with which they scratched their faces and chests. “O Jibrīl!”, I asked, “Who are these people?” He said, “These are the people who ate the flesh of others and besmirched their honours.”[3]

4.   The beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:

Whoever consumed the flesh of his brother in the world, his brother’s flesh will be brought to him on the Day of Judgement, and it will be said, “Just as you ate the flesh of your dead brother in the world, eat the flesh of the living.” Whilst screaming and shouting, he will then eat it with a sour face.[4]
