is also the teacher of Imam Bukhari رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه, states: I did not see anyone more intelligent than Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه.

2.   Once, Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه was mentioned in the presence of the renowned Abbasid Caliph, Haroon Rashid رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه, so he made a Du’a of mercy for him and said: He would see things through the sight of his intellect that other people could not see even with their physical eyes.

3.   Sayyiduna Ali Bin Aasim رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states: If the intellect of Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه was to be compared to the intellect of half of the people on earth, his intellect would be dominant.

4.   Imam Shaafi’i رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه even went as far as saying: No mother gave birth to a person as intelligent as Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه. (Al-Khayraat-ul-Hisan, pp. 61-62, selected)

5.   Imam Jalal-ud-Deen Suyuti رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states regarding the Hadith, ‘لَوْ کَانَ الْعِلْمُ بِالثُّـرَ یَّـا لَتَـنَاوَلَہُ رِجَالٌ مِّنْ اَبْنَاءِ فَارِسَ’, i.e. ‘If knowledge were to reach the Pleiades, then a man of Persia would certainly attain it’, that it certainly refers to Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه. صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                  صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! You have heard that the great scholars, Imams, Muftis and rulers of the age spoke about the excellence of Imam-e-A’zam Abu Hanifah’s knowledge and his outstanding intellectual abilities. Hence, not only did the majority of scholars accept the principles and rules of Islamic jurisprudence that were laid down by Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه, they considered it an honour to act upon Hanafi Fiqh. Countless Awliya lived their lives in accordance to his way, numerous expert scholars explained rulings in light of his principles and rules, and followed him in matters of Shar’i rulings. Let us listen to three faith-refreshing accounts in relation to his intelligence and scholarly prowess:
