Remaining Sunnahs and etiquettes of shaking hands
* When shaking hands, if possible, recite the following Du’a after Salat upon the Prophet: ‘یَغْفِرُاللہُ لَنَاوَ لَکُم’ (i.e. May Allah Almighty forgive us and you).
* The Du’a which two Muslims make when shaking hands will be accepted, اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه, and they will both be forgiven before their hands separate. (Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4, p. 286, Hadith 12454)
* Shaking hands with one another removes animosity.
* The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: The Muslim who shakes hands with his brother whilst neither of them has hatred in their heart for the other, Allah Almighty will forgive their past sins before their hands separate. Whosoever looks at his Muslim brother with affection and does not have hatred for him in his heart or chest, then the past sins of both of them will be forgiven before he looks away.’ (Kanz-ul-Ummal, vol. 9, p. 57)
* You can shake hands as many times as you meet.
* It is not Sunnah for both people to use only one hand; it is Sunnah to shake hands with both hands.
