etiquettes of shaking hands from the booklet of Ameer-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat Allamah Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ, entitled ‘101 Madani Pearls’:
* When two Muslims meet, it is Sunnah for them to shake hands using both hands after saying Salam.
* Also say Salam when leaving and the hands can be shaken as well
* The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: When two Muslims shake hands while meeting each other and ask each other about their well-being, Allah Almighty sends 100 mercies upon them, from which, 99 mercies are for the one who meets the other more warmly and asks about the wellbeing of his brother in a better manner. (Mu’jam-e-Awsat, vol. 5, p. 380, Hadith 7672)
* When two friends meet, shake hands, and recite Salat upon the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, the past and future sins of both of them are forgiven before they separate. (Shu’ab-ul-Iman, vol. 6, p. 471, Hadith 8944)
