of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and being protected from error. From this we come to know that Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه possesses a very high rank and station.

Let us listen to a short introduction to him:

The Life of Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه

*   The name of Imam-e-A’zam Abu Hanifah is ‘Nu’man’, his father’s name is ‘Saabit’ and his appellation is ‘Abu Hanifah.’

*   He was born in 70 AH in the famous city of Iraq known as ‘Kufa’, and passed away at the age of 80 on the 2nd of Sha’ban-ul-Mu’azzam 150 AH.

*   His mausoleum is present in Baghdad even today. (Ashkon ki Barsaat, p. 2)

*   Allamah Shu’ayb Harifeesh رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states the following about Imam-e-A’zam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه: The birth of Imam-e-A’zam took place in the era of the noble companions رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُم and he became a great Mufti in the age of the Tabi’een.

*   He was handsome, wore clean clothing, made use of fine perfume, was very generous and someone who helped his brothers.

*   He was a great worshipper, aesthetic and someone who had gnosis and fear of Allah Almighty. He would always seek the pleasure of Allah Almighty through his knowledge and was an exemplar of humility and humbleness.

*   He would treat the students and scholars with kindness, the public and the elite with compassion and he would financially aid the poor and needy. He was gentle, generous, an expert teacher, an excellent Mufti, a compassionate father and a good neighbour who would not cause any harm to anybody.
