Book Name:Tazkira e Imam e Azam
number 38: Did you protect yourself from speaking or listening to lies, backbiting and tale-telling, today?
اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه, becoming attached to the religious environment of the devotees of the Prophet, Dawat-e-Islami, is an excellent means of ridding ourselves from bad habits, such as backbiting and negative assumptions, therefore, you should also attach yourself to this environment.
اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه, Dawat-e-Islami is serving the religion through 80 departments worldwide. One of these departments is known as the ‘Ushr Department.’ ‘Ushr’ refer to the Zakat of land. It is Fard to give Zakat on 1/10 and sometimes 1/20 of the crops which grow. Therefore, during the days of ‘Ushr, the virtues of giving in the way of Allah Almighty are mentioned in the weekly and other Sunnah-inspired Ijtima’s, and people are encouraged to give and collect ‘Ushr for Dawat-e-Islami.
From time-to-time, the responsible brothers of this department contact farmers, land owners, owners of gardens, etc., in order to collect ‘Ushr. Ijtima’s for farmers are also organised, and the booklet ‘Ushr kay Ahkam’ is also distributed in order to convince them. It is particularly necessary for land owners to learn about ‘Ushr by reading the booklets of Maktaba-tul-Madinah, entitled ‘Ushr kay Ahkam’ and ‘Islamic and Organisational Precautions about Collecting Donations’, and they should contact Dar-ul-Ifta Ahl-e-Sunnat in order to receive guidance regarding taking out Zakat for their crops in accordance to the Shari’ah.
