stricken people of the world, I become fearful in case Allah Almighty asks me regarding them and I am unable to give an answer; it is the sense of this weighty responsibility and worrying about it which has made me cry.’ (Tareekh-e-Khulafa, p. 236)

Become eager for good deeds

4.   One way to adopt the habit of fulfilling the rights of people is to leave greed for wealth and become eager for earning good deeds. We do not know which good deeds of ours become a means of Allah Almighty’s everlasting pleasure, therefore, we should not leave even the smallest deed; read up on the virtues of being good towards people, and with the intention of gaining reward, become steadfast upon fulfilling the rights of the people. The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, ‘Treating people well is Sadaqah.’ (Majma’-ul-Zawaid, vol. 8, p. 38, Raqm 12630)

Create the fear of Allah

5.   Having fear of Allah Almighty is also an important means for adopting other noble attributes along with fulfilling people’s rights and abandoning evil habits. Sayyiduna Abul Hassan Dareer رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states: ‘a sign of a person’s good fortune is that he remains fearful of being accursed, as fear is a reign between a person and Allah Almighty; when a person’s reign breaks, he falls prey to destruction along with those who get destroyed. (Ihya-ul-‘Uloom, vol. 4, p. 199) Therefore, make efforts to obtain this great blessing. اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه with its blessings, along with fulfilling people’s rights, other pious actions will also become a part of your life.
