* One falls prey to having ill-omens when coming across someone blind, someone limping, someone blind in one eye or any ill person, and sometimes after seeing a specific bird or animal or hearing its voice
* Sometimes one takes ill-omens against a certain time or day or month
* One intended to do some work and someone pointed out a mistake in the method or told him to stop that certain work, then one may take an ill-omen that now you have done this, the work will not be able to get completed
* Some engage in taking ill-omens from the sound of the ambulance or the fire-brigade
* Sometimes, one saddens his life by star signs published in the newspapers
* Sometimes, one believes that brushing the floor after the guests leave is unfortunate
* Sometimes, when removing the shoes, ill-omens are taken when one shoe comes over the other
* If the right eye flickers, then one believes that some sort of misfortune will befall
* If Eid falls on the day of Friday, then one considers this as burdensome for the government
* Sometimes, it is considered a misfortune when a cat cries and at other times when a dog cries in the night
* If the first customer leaves without purchasing anything, then the shopkeeper takes an ill-omen against that
* If after a newly wedded bride arrives at the home, a family member passes away or if a woman only gives birth to daughters, then she is given the label of being ill-fated
