Muharram is the first month of the Islamic year. Sayyidunā Imam Husayn رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْه was martyred on the 10th of Muharram. The mother of Imam Husayn is Sayyidatunā Fāṭima رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا . His father is Sayyidunā ʿAlī رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْه , and his brother is Sayyiduna Imam Ḥasan رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْه . Our masters Ḥasan and Ḥusayn are the grandchildren of our beloved Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ; he is their grandfather.
