Decisive Power
The final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would grant favours to both tangible and intangible things. Let us look at a beautiful miracle regarding an outstanding favour of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم upon the heart and mind of one of his Companions.
The fourth Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā ꜤAlī b. Abī Ṭālib رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ relates:
The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم summoned me to appoint me as governor over Yemen. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I am still a young man, and I have no knowledge of the art and skill of making decisions." So, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم struck my chest two or three times while making this supplication, "O Allah! Guide his heart and keep his tongue firm and steadfast."
Describing his feelings because of the blessings of the Prophetic touch and supplication, Sayyidunā ꜤAlī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ mentions, “It felt as if all knowledge had come to me and my heart was filled with knowledge and understanding. After that, I never felt even an iota of hesitation or doubt when making a decision between two people.”[1]
This sudden attainment of knowledge and understanding and the full capacity to make decisions between parties in the future, all due to the touch of the blessed hand and the Prophetic prayer, is a beautiful miracle of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. This miracle teaches us a few things:
1.For one who is in obedience to Allah and His Messenger, their matters become easy and their difficulties are resolved.
2.The prayer of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is a source of spiritual power that removes mental distress.
3.One should be more concerned with fulfilling the rights of a position of power or authority than with simply attaining it.
4.Guidance of the heart and steadfastness of the tongue are both necessary for making correct decisions.
5.It is a good thing to show humility before elders, and it is not a weakness to express one's lack of ability.
6.The people of Allah perceive through their far-sighted vision who is capable of what.
